Job Description

Summary

This post is a Fixed Term Contract for an ENT Surgical Registrar based within Head & Neck Cancer Services at UCLH. ENT Head and Neck services at University College London Hospitals are incorporated within the overall Head & Neck service. The post would suit a trainee returning to the specialty after core and specialist training wishing to pursue a career in Head and Neck surgery.

You will work as part of a team of 2 Specialist Trainees, 3 ENT Head & Neck Oncology Surgeons & ten SHO's who support the work of this multidisciplinary Head & Neck Department.

The Fellow will be involved in a full range of clinical activities related to ENT Head and Neck Service at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust including affiliated hospitals. During your contract you will be encouraged to take part in research and audit.

He/she will be asked to co-ordinate a continuing education programme for the nursing and paramedical staff on Ward T6, along with a monthly journal club, and will also be involved in resident and student teaching. Teaching undergraduates, nursing and paramedical staff is vital to this training post because it will encourage the Fellow to broaden his/her reading and assist with his/her training as a teacher in addition to his/her training as a clinician. The Fellow will be expected to assist with data entry into National databases associated with Head and Neck / Laryngology surgery.

Although this post does not have Deanery training recognition, the appointee would be expected to participate fully in the training opportunities available in the department, and the post is identical to the Deanery approved training STR/SPR posts in the department. Full registration with the General Medical Council is required. A Medical degree is mandatory.
