The post is available asap until May 2020. The Great Western Hospital is a modern purpose built hospital. It opened in 2002 and has been a Foundation Trust since December 2008. Following a merger with Wiltshire Community Health Services (WCHS) in June 2011 the Trust has provided not only acute hospital services but also a range of community health services in Wiltshire. . The Trust provides acute services to Swindon and the surrounding areas (catchment 344,000) and community services in addition to Wiltshire (catchment 750,000). The Haematology Department is part of the Thames Valley Cancer Network. There are 6 haematology consultants, two specialty doctors, one clinical fellow and two trainees (ST3-7) and a dedicated haematology/oncology in patient ward supported by a trainee (GPVTS ST1-4). The department provides BCSH level 2B care (leukaemia induction, lymphoma salvage and primary CNS lymphoma chemotherapy) and is JACIE accredited for its autologous stem cell transplant programme. There are shared outpatient and day ward facilities. The department is well supported by clinical nurse specialists in haematology, as well as anticoagulant and transfusion practitioners.. There are both local and network wide (video-conferenced) multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and new and follow up haematology clinics, a chemotherapy clinic and two bone marrow lists each week. Allogeneic transplants are managed in conjunction with University College Hospital, London. If desired, the postholder has the opportunity to attend outpatient allogeneic transplant clinics in Oxford as well as spending time observing inpatient allogeneic transplant work at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford. There is a CPA accredited automated combined blood sciences and transfusion laboratory. The post holder will work in a team of five registrar grade doctors to support the haematology service, covering haematology inpatients, the day unit, outpatient clinics and the haematology laboratory. Attendance at haematology MDTs including disease specific, specialist MDTs networked with University Hospitals Oxford is an integral part of the job. There will be opportunities to develop practical skills relevant to haematology. Including bone marrow biopsy and the reporting of blood films and bone marrow aspirates for those that are interested. The post holder will participate in haematology outpatient clinics including a chemotherapy pre-assessment clinic. There are 30 consultants and a fully staffed EWTD compliant middle grade and ST rota, composed of grid trainees, regional trainees, fellows and F1 doctors. The St. George's PICU itself has 14 beds providing PICU and HDU level care to 700 patients a year, the number of referrals to PICU continues to grow year on year. It is a general intensive care unit for children from within the hospital and those retrieved by the South Thames retrieval service. The unit is part of the South Thames PICU Network working with the Evelina Children's Hospital and Kings College Hospital. The post holder will also have the opportunity to engage in training in the Anaesthetic Department to gain basic airway skills or in the Paediatric Emergency Department depending on the individual need of the trainee. Summary The Trust is currently looking for enthusiastic Foundation Year 3+ Doctors who are looking to take up a post as a Junior Clinical Fellow Doctor. You will have satisfactorily completed your Foundation training and are looking to gain experience in Emergency Medicine at ST1 level. The posts are available for a minimum of 6-12 months. Based at Arrowe Park Hospital, this is the only Emergency Department on the Wirral. It provides 24 hours facilities for the care of the acutely ill and injured for a population of approximately 400,000. Approximately 96,000 new patients are seen annually. There are also several NHS Walk-in Centres and Minor Injury Units on the Wirral with which the department closely cooperate Successful candidates will have an allocated Educational Supervisor to support their portfolio development and you will also be expected to take part in teaching programmes within the department. Summary Applicants are invited for the post of ST1-2 Clinical Fellow (CMT/SHO Level) working at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square. The hospital is internationally renowned as a leading center for clinical care and research. We welcome both trainee neurologists and general medical trainees wishing to gain experience in the management of neurological disorders to inform their future practice. The hospital is closely linked to a number of leading research facilities, and trainees wishing to pursue research interests in future will be well placed to explore this. Queen Square is minutes from Russell Square and Holborn underground stations in central London and has good transport connections to national rail and bus networks. We have positions from February 2020 onwards for six months with the possibility to extend. As the post holder will manage the Neurology inpatients overnight without a registrar on site, experience in general medicine in a UK hospital is preferred. Neurological experience The postholder will work under similar conditions on the same rota as those on CMT rotation. They will have the opportunity to attend the same teaching and training sessions. However, this post is not recognised for training. There are a number of different firms at the hospital , and trainees can gain experience in: Epilepsy and sleep disorders Parkinsonism and movement disorders Dementia and cognitive impairment Neuropathies and myopathies Neuro-ophthalmology Autonomic dysfunction Neurological intensive care (unique within the UK) Stroke, including thrombolysis and rehabilitation Trainees rotate through weeks of inpatient ward work , time on the daycare unit, and dedicated week for outpatient clinic attendance. You may also rotate to the Chalfont site which specialises in Epilepsy. The neurology posts are a combination of standard hours (usually 9 a.m. to 5.p.m.) and on call shifts at a ratio of 1 in 6 Teaching There are daily opportunities to attend teaching. These include grand rounds, clinico-pathologic cases, bedside teaching and consultant-led tutorials, often by international experts. Two teaching sessions are protected: a weekly teaching session for MRCP PACES neurology and a weekly CMT teaching session tied to the curriculum and delivered by consultants. Summary Applicants are invited to apply for a Trust Grade (ST 1/2 level) post which has become available within our Oncology, Haematology and Immunology team at the Queen's Centre for Oncology and Haematology at Castle Hill Hospital. The posts are offered on a fixed-term contract basis available from as soon as possible with a view to a possible extension. The successful applicant will participate in an out of hour's rota. The Queen's Centre for Oncology and Haematology opened in August 2008 as part of an award winning PFI initiative. The 114 Oncology and Haematology beds include Bone Marrow Transplant rooms, a Teenage and Young adults unit and a Radioiodine room. The service has six linear accelerators, a large outpatient and day-case unit which deliver chemotherapy and procedures. In addition, there is an Oncology Health Centre supporting psychosocial needs of cancer patients. The Trust offers a high standard of training and education to Junior Doctors as the base for the Postgraduate Medical Institute and for undergraduates attending Hull & York Medical School. Applicants must hold full GMC registration and should have also achieved satisfactory FY2 level competencies or equivalent. Applicants should also possess the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, have good interpersonal skills, a caring attitude to patients, good communication skills and a commitment to continuing their medical education.
